60,000 Volunteers Ready for Clinical Trial of the COVID-19 Vaccine Made in the United States

Suara.com – United States of America don’t want to be left behind in research the COVID-19 vaccine which is currently becoming a global pandemic.

Johnson & Johnson, a pharmaceutical company from the United States, plans to conduct a final stage clinical trial of the vaccine COVID-19 artificial experimental involving 60,000 volunteers in September.

The clinical trials will be carried out at nearly 180 locations across the US and other countries, including Brazil and Mexico.

“We can confirm that the scheme and recruitment for our Phase III program is ongoing, which is dependent on preliminary Phase 1 / 2a trial data and regulatory approval,” said a spokesman for Johnson & Johnson.

“In order for our Phase III program to be as effective as possible, it may involve up to 60,000 participants and will be conducted in places with a high incidence rate,” he continued.

The spokesperson said J&J was using epidemiological data to determine the location of the research and would make the final decision soon.

Phase III trials are likely to be completed by the end of September, with the first vaccine ready for use in early 2021, he said.

Rival COVID-19 vaccine producers, such as Moderna Inc and Pfizer, are targeting the recruitment of 30,000 volunteers for their final research.

Reuters reported last week that the Trump administration’s COVID-19 vaccine project was seeking scientists in South Africa and Latin America to help test vaccine candidates in US-backed clinical trials.
