The health minister wants to closely monitor cluster formation in the coming days. The population should not be fooled by good numbers.
The number of people with active illnesses in Austria has recently risen again significantly. After it was already under 400 two weeks ago, it went up to exactly 600 on Monday. Health Minister Rudolf Anschober was “concerned” in a press statement about the regional outbreaks.
The cluster formation will therefore be monitored very closely in the coming days. The reason for the increase could be the decrease in risk awareness among some of the population. “My urgent appeal therefore goes to this part of the population not to be fooled by the weeks of good numbers,” Anschober said in the statement. “The virus is not on vacation, it is still with us and it is highly dangerous.”
The Austrians should not become carefree now, but bear responsibility and continue to implement the measures. The fact that the obligation to wear mouth-nose protection (MNS) has been partially lifted does not mean that the masks are now prohibited. “It makes sense to continue to carry the MNS on your own responsibility,” advised Anschober.
The Ministry of Health and the Interior recently reported 69 new infections for a 24-hour window, of which Upper Austria clearly made up more than half with 39. Vienna (12), Lower Austria (8), Salzburg and Styria (3 each), Burgenland and Tirol (2 each) followed. Only Carinthia and Vorarlberg did not report any new infections.
