We’ve only been talking about him for the past few days. Him is Shaun Edwards. The defense coach of the XV of France was hailed by the whole of Europe after the exceptional defensive performance of the Blues against Wales in Cardiff on Friday March 11 (9-13).
And if the Blues are today in the running to achieve the Grand Slam in this 2022 edition of 2022 6 Nations Tournament, the English technician is no stranger to it. Endowed with unparalleled know-how, he has won wherever he has gone. And the ex-Wales captain, Sam Warburtonwho rubbed shoulders with Edwards during his 11-year stint on the Leek XV staff, is full of praise for him.

In the last episode of podcast Six Nations Greatest de BBC Radio 5 LiveWarburton, along with England scrum-half Danny Care, placed Shaun Edwards as the best coach in the history of the 6 Nations Tournament. It must be said that the Englishman has performed in the competition, winning no less than 4 editions (2008, 2012, 2013 and 2019) with Wales, including 3 Grand Slams (2008, 2012 and 2019).
“Shaun is good at transcending you. It’s even phenomenal. And he’s someone you never want to let down. You would do anything to earn his respect. There are guys who would even walk through brick walls just for him,” Warburton said admiringly.

This distinction clearly demonstrates the weight of Shaun Edwards, his way of making an impression, but also all his qualities, he who is only ahead of the coaches in this ranking.
Following, we find Bernard Laporte on the second step of the podium. Warburton, current TV consultant, was impressed, reading the statistics, of Bernard Laporte’s record, which has 30 wins in 40 games played: “I had lunch with him in 2013. He’s a really nice guy, a passionate by discipline. He went so far as to dismiss his captain Fabien Pelous for lack of discipline, he who wanted to have the most disciplined team in the world, ”said the ex-captain of Wales.
Laporte has won the 6 Nations Tournament 4 times (2002, 2004, 2006 and 2007), achieving the Grand Slam twice (2002 and 2004).

He knows how to get the best out of each player in his group. I played my best rugby under him,” admits Sam Warburton.
Clive Woodwardworld champion in 2003, winner of 3 6 Nations Tournaments (2000, 2001 and Grand Slam in 2003), is ranked 4e. “He was in charge of one of the greatest teams in English rugby history. He was an incredible coach,” says Danny Care. Joe Schmidtwho won 3 tournaments with Ireland, and Eddie Jonesclose this ranking which looks great.
