When the first reviews of the passion-filled film “50 Shades of Grey” came out, the lead actor Jamie Dornan hide in the countryside. The actor played the role of Christian Gray in all three adaptations of EL James’ erotic novels, the BBC reports.

The films were popular with fans but were critically panned.
Dornan told Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs that he and his wife “shut off from the world for a while” when they saw the reviews. He explained the decision by the fact that he received a “career change” award nomination for the “BBC” drama “The Fall”, but after his role in “50 Shades of Grey” was called a mockery.

The film’s director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, allowed Dornan and his family to stay at her country house, where they hid for a while.
Dornan, 41, added that the film “made so much money that it was quickly greenlit for the next parts. It seemed strange because after the criticism he received for the first part, it was clear that there would be more criticism, but he had a contract.
He said that critics still refer to “50 Shades of Grey” and the other films: “I’ve just had very glowing reviews of recent work, and there aren’t many that haven’t mentioned this film.”
The actor reveals that he does not regret at all that he agreed to film.
Jamie Dornan also spoke emotionally about his mother, who died when he was a teenager, and the support he received from his father and two sisters.
