Greysia Polii burst into tears at Istora Senayan, Central Jakarta, Sunday (12/6/22). The 34-year-old badminton athlete has officially suspended the racket.
Greysia Polii was declared officially retired as a badminton athlete after carrying out ceremonial and exhibition matches on that occasion. Since the morning, the Istora Senayan area has been lively by Greysia Polii fans and Indonesian badminton connoisseurs.
Many people want to witness the final moment of the athlete who has won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Mothers, here are five emotional moments on the farewell day of badminton athlete Greysia Polii:
1. It’s been 3 decades working
The Greysia Polii Testimonial Day was held in the morning at Istora Senayan, Central Jakarta. The event was opened by entertainment performances from the famous singer Raisa.
The event was hosted by two presenters Valentino Simanjuntak and Donna Agnesia. Both of them explained the achievements of Greysia Polii during their time in the badminton world.
General Chairperson of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) Agung Firman Sampurna and Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali then delivered their remarks to Greysia Polii.
Zainudin gave the black jacket he was wearing to Greysia Polii as a form of respect for the athlete, Mother.
On that occasion, Greysia Polii expressed her gratitude for 3 decades in the badminton world. The woman born in 1987 has played at the age of 5 years, Mother.
“I’ve started from the age of 5 years, from being just a hobby to a dream. It’s a long journey and it took 30 years and it can’t be separated from the support of the community, family. I’m really grateful,” said Greysia Polii in a live broadcast on his YouTube channel.
