The number of new weekly jobless claims in the United States reached 5.24 million last week, above the consensus which anticipated 5.1 million while the country is still paralyzed by containment measures to stem.

Over 4 weeks, the average number of weekly registrations is 5.5 million.

Note that the figures for the previous week, a historic record, were further revised upwards to 6.615M against 6.606M for the first estimates.
