WARTAKOTALIVE.COM, KARAWANG-—–A total of 47 percent HIV / AIDS case in Karawang, West Java, donated from the gay community throughout 2021.
This was stated by the staff of the Aids Prevention Commission (KPA) of Karawang Regency, Yana Haryana to Wednesday (5/1/2022).
Yana said, as many as 236 people were infected with HIV and Aids in 2021, of which 112 cases were donated from the gay community.
“Almost 47 percent of the cases are in the gay community,” he explained.

Yana revealed, since 1992 until now as many as 1,887 people are infected with HIV and Aids in Karawang.
Yana said, the trends in the causes of HIV and Aids also differ from year to year.
Starting from needles or drug users, family and free sex.
“But this 2021 is not found in Karawang from needles or drugs. But many from families and mostly from the gay community,” he explained.
According to Yana, cases of HIV and Aids were only discovered when the patient was already seriously ill and then he would go to the hospital to check himself.
“So it was only discovered when it was severe and an examination was carried out at the hospital,” he explained.
As for the treatment, said Yana, patients will be given antiretrovirals or ARVs, which are the needs of patients with HIV-AIDS for the rest of their lives. They have to take the medicine every day.
The drug, said Yana, was obtained free of charge. In Karawang, it can be found at the Cikampek, Cilamaya, Ciampel, Rengasdengklok, Kutawaluya, Pedes, Lemahabang, and Karawang hospitals.
“Usually they get it for one month. So there are those who drink one a day, but there are also two times a day. It depends on the doctor’s prescription,” he said.
He added, people with HIV Aids should not be ashamed. In fact, you have to be frankly honest. Because, prevent wider transmission.
“Then also routinely take the drug, at this time the obstacle at this time is the enthusiasm of PLHAs to take the drug. Sometimes they feel bored,” he said. (MAZ)
