Anyone who is not connected to the sewerage system and does not have a stream in the vicinity is dependent on such a settlement point. For our reporter it is new, but the neighbors appear to be familiar with the phenomenon. Some have a collection of saturated sinks in the garden. It can be a temporary solution, while waiting for a connection to the sewage system. But that waiting can take a very long time.
A little further on in the “De Mart” district in Bonheiden, the inhabitants have been told since the construction of their house twenty years ago that sewers will soon be installed. In the meantime, they have to make do with sinks and submersible pumps to get rid of their wastewater. There is a garden hose on several driveways ready to pump the excess waste water into the gutter. A little further on, the collected waste water flows into the stream. (read on below the video)
