entertainment">“Wes (from Alane) passed away. 57 years. He once won the Mama Appelsap Award,” Verkoeijen wrote on Twitter. “We invited him to the studio, but he didn’t want to go back home. He kept calling me all day with that he wanted to delight the Netherlands with his presence longer.”

entertainment">On Saturday it was announced that the 57-year-old Cameroonian singer has died of an infection he contracted in hospital. He had been in a coma for several days before that. Wes scored a worldwide hit with the song Alane from 1997.
