Dr. Ahmed Abdulaziz, Director of Ahmed Maher Teaching Hospital, has revealed that 32 medical staff and workers working with the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) have been infected.
Abdelaziz said in statements to Masrawy, today, Monday, that a nurse transmitted the infection to the rest of her colleagues inside the hospital during the past days, and did not show any symptoms, which caused the injury of 24 nurses, 6 doctors, and two workers with the virus.
He explained that there were no symptoms on the injured except for one nurse who showed some mild symptoms and was transferred to Qaha Hospital, Qalyubia, and then transferred to one of the places for quarantine, and the rest without symptoms and were transferred to the youth hostel and stone headquarters.
He pointed out that all contacts of the medical team and workers are counted, conducting a survey and analysis of them, and we are waiting for other results in the coming hours.
He said: “The nurse who transmitted the infection works outdoors, but we do not know exactly the source of the infection for her.”
As a result, the director of Ahmed Maher Hospital issued an administrative decision to authorize any members of the medical team in gatherings other than his workplace inside the hospital as well as administrators, and to wear a high-efficiency mask for intensive care doctors, the critical cases department and the doctor who is taking Corona virus swabs only, and is rewarded from Hospital stock is used in other than these departments.
The decision also stipulated that smears be taken from the medical team dealing directly with the Corona patient without appropriate personal protectors, and that a “deterrent penalty” be imposed for not wearing the condoms.
