The health department reported 307 new corona cases in Freiburg and the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district on Christmas Day. The high number fut also indicates a transmission error.
The health department listed 307 new infections in total – 139 in the city of Freiburg, 168 in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district on the morning of Christmas Day. This is the highest number reported on a day since the beginning of the pandemic. This means that 8,635 people have been infected in the city and district since March.

Matthias Fetterer, spokesman for the District Office, explained the high number of cases at Christmas with a technical error in the transmission via the German Electronic Reporting Information System for Infection Protection (DEMIS): “Most of these are cases that actually occurred in the last three days should have been reported, “said Fetterer. The number of people who died has not changed. So far there have been 108 Covid-19-related deaths in the city and 111 cases in the district.
