Indonesia passes three representatives in men’s doubles All England 2022. One other place was filled by a couple from China.
The quarter-finals of the All England 2022 were held at the Utlita Arena, Birmingham, Friday (18/3/2022). There are four representatives of Indonesia who competed in the men’s doubles number.
Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon became the first Indonesian men’s doubles to secure a ticket to the semifinals. The Minions got rid of the Indian double, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty.
Kevin Marcus won two straight games over Rankireddy/Shetty. The first seed closed the duel with a score 24-22 and 21-17.
The victory was also won by other Indonesian men’s doubles, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana. Both qualified for the top four by defeating the representatives of Japan, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi.
Fikri / Bagas was left behind 16-21 at the first gym. However, the two rose up and seized the victory 21-16 and 22-20 on the second and third gyms.
Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan became the third Indonesian men’s doubles to step into the semifinals of the All England 2022. The Daddies beat Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark in straight sets 21-15 and 22-20.
Indonesia failed to wipe out the semifinal position after the fourth representative, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, lost to China’s men’s doubles, Ji Tieng He/Qiang Tan. Leo/Daniel lost in three sets 21-15, 16-21, 14-21.
In the semifinals, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon clashed with their compatriots, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana. Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan met He Jiting/Tan Qiang.
