2x Scratch Resistant, Gorus Glass Victus Officially Launched

Jakarta, Cellular.ID – Almost all the latest smartphone releases are protected by Gorilla Glass. Now the Corning producer has just introduced the next generation of Gorilla Glass. But not “7”, but “Victus”.

The new aluminosilicate glass promises better resistance to scratches and is more resistant when it falls to hard surfaces compared to competitors and even previous generations of Gorilla Glass.

In tests, Victus showed it could survive the first fall on a hard surface of 2 meters (6.5 feet). Fall onto the concrete surface from the average height of a person’s head.

The Non-Corning glass coating is usually smashed to pieces only from 0.8 m, the company said. Gorilla Glass 5 has an 80% chance of surviving in a decline of 1.6 m, GG6 increases that chance, especially against rough surfaces.

Gorilla Glass Victus is also more resistant to scratches. In the Knoop hardness test (which focuses on the force applied and uses diamonds to do scratches), the new Corning glass gets a small scratch with a load of 8 Newton while competitors’ samples experience worse conditions at half pressure.

Watch the video in the following to see some of the tests conducted:

Samsung will be the first company to introduce products with Gorilla Glass Victus “in the near future”. Another manufacturer is also working on a flagship cellphone using Corning’s new glass, but the info remains hidden for now.
