Another 219 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, bringing the total number of hospitalizations to 891. 44 of them are in intensive care units.
1432 people were cured. 12 people died.

The Ministry of Health announced that in Bulgaria A new sub-variant of Omicron has been detected. Subvariant VA.5 of Omicron was detected in Sofia-city and Kyustendil regions.
The Ministry of Health recommended that citizens wear masks in closed spaces, keep their distance and wash their hands often. Masks were made mandatory in healthcare facilities.
The Ministry of Health and the Expert Council on Immunoprophylaxis Supervision recommended already the administration of a second booster mRNA vaccine against COVID-19 in persons over 18 and called for vaccination several times. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is working towards a possible authorization for the use of adapted vaccines in September, but they they are not expected in our country until the end of this year.
The Council of Ministers also adopted an updated National Operational Plan for dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of yesterday, masks again became mandatory in the capital’s public transport.
