After two days without Covid-19 deaths, nine deaths were reported again on Tuesday. The number of Covid-19 patients in the local hospitals has continued to decline significantly. 740 infected people had to be treated in hospital on Tuesday.

58 victims are in intensive care units. Within three weeks, the total number of hospital patients has halved. On May 26, 1,489 infected people were still being treated in hospitals across Austria, 111 of them in intensive care.

Salzburg is in the midfield nationwide

The 2,909 new infections are below the average of the past seven days, which is 4,051. The seven-day incidence on Tuesday was 315.8 cases per 100,000 people. On Tuesday there were 53,800 laboratory-confirmed active cases in Austria, 2,255 fewer than the day before. Since the beginning of the pandemic there have already been 4,218,059 confirmed cases in Austria. 4,145,947 people are considered recovered.

The federal state with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Vienna with 395.7, followed by Lower Austria with 377.5, Burgenland with 357.2 and Carinthia with 266.8. It is followed by Salzburg (266.6), Vorarlberg (265.2), Upper Austria (264.5), Styria (258.3) and Tyrol (255.2). Burgenland reported the fewest new infections on Tuesday with exactly 100, most in Vienna with 793.

Again new corona deaths

On Sunday there were no deaths in Austria for the first time since last September, and no deaths were reported on Monday either. No casualties within a day were last recorded on September 27, 2021. There were nine deaths again on Tuesday, and 41 Covid deaths were registered last week. It is still unclear exactly how many people have died in Austria since the beginning of the pandemic. A month ago, the Ministry of Health reported thousands of Covid deaths. You haven’t quite gotten your way through the federal state figures yet. Carinthia, Salzburg, Styria and Vienna reported deaths in April, while the other federal states are still missing the ministry data.

_

In any case, the interior and health ministries recorded 18,312 deaths on Tuesday since the pandemic began. More than 19,832 deaths had already been reported on the dashboard of the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) on Monday. The difference was therefore still more than 1,500 one month after the data correction.

Hardly any more first stitches

In the last 24 hours, 156,107 PCR and antigen rapid tests have been registered across Austria. Of these, 140,316 were meaningful PCR tests, 2.1 percent were positive. On average, more than 147,730 PCR analyzes were carried out every day in the past week. The positive rate was 2.7 percent.

Austria-wide 2,139 vaccinations were carried out on Monday, 78 of which were first bites. According to the data from the e-vaccination card, a total of 6,826,450 people have already received at least one vaccination. Exactly 6,010,468 people and thus 66.9 percent of Austrians have a valid vaccination. More and more people are letting their vaccination certificates expire. In the past week alone, the certificates of 59,673 people have lost their validity
