WASHINGTON | The United States has registered 288 new COVID-19-related deaths in the past 24 hours, the leading Johns Hopkins University announced on Sunday.

The infection rate remains high in the United States, which is battling a new outbreak of the disease.

The United States is the country most heavily affected by COVID-19, with 125,768 deaths in more than 2.5 million confirmed cases, according to the count made at 8:30 p.m. local time on Sunday by Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, on the east coast.
