One day after the federal elections, the Grand Council met in Appenzell. Grand Council President Albert Manser (Gonten) subsequently congratulated old treasurer Thomas Rechsteiner on his re-election to the National Council, but also said that the low voter turnout of 24.5 percent gave him pause.
