A confirmed case again occurred at the Seoul East Detention Center (East Detention Center), which is the center of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) group infection.
According to the Ministry of Justice on the 10th, as of 5 p.m. on the same day, one employee of the Eastern Detention Center was diagnosed with Corona 19. One male employee was confirmed as a result of the diagnosis test conducted the previous day (9th) of all employees (about 370 people).
As of 8 a.m. on that day, one additional employee was judged as confirmed, and the number of confirmed cases increased by two from the previous day. Currently, a total of 1225 coronavirus confirmed personnel at correctional facilities nationwide.
Excluding those who were released from quarantine, there were 31 confirmed employees, 1038 prisoners, and 111 prisoners.
The number of confirmed detainees by institution was 668 in eastern detention center, 333 in North Gyeongsang province 2, 16 in Gwangju, 17 in southern Seoul, 1 in Seoul detention, and 3 in Gangwon-do.
In addition, the Ministry of Justice transferred about 250 female prisoners of’voice judgment’ excluding those with direct or indirect contacts and underlying diseases to the newly built Daegu prison on that day when the first confirmed case among female prisoners in the Eastern Detention Center occurred the day before.
This was the first confirmed case of a female detainee in the eastern detention center. Previously, it was not included in the 6th total test because it was negative in the 1st to 5th tests, but one confirmed case was found in the 7th total test.
The Dongbu Detention Center is separating three close contacts who lived with the female prisoners in one room per person, and is working with the quarantine authorities to determine the route of infection.
In addition, the Dongbu detention center is scheduled to conduct the 8th total inspection the next day (11th). About 300 detainees at Dongbu Detention Center (including female detainees) and 250 female detainees transferred to Daegu prison on that day are also planning to conduct diagnostic tests.
