21 Omikron cases confirmed in the Würzburg area

Omikron expresses itself with fever and cold symptoms in the affected people in the city and district of Würzburg. On request, the district office confirmed to BR24 that the new Corona variant was detected in a total of 21 people in the Würzburg area. According to the district office, one person is being treated in the hospital, but not in the intensive care unit.

Half of those infected are returnees

According to the district office, eleven infected people are returnees. How the other ten people got infected is still unclear. A school is also affected by the Omikron cases: Two students from a class at the Matthias Grünewald High School in Würzburg have tested positive for the variant of the corona virus. The entire school class is in a two-week quarantine.

Corona suspected cases in the Main-Spessart district

There are currently 17 suspected Omikron cases in the Main-Spessart district. This is confirmed by the district office when asked by BR24. Residents of a facility for people with disabilities and employees of the Mainfränkische Werkstätten in Gemünden are therefore currently in quarantine. According to the District Office, it will take about two weeks until it is clear whether it is the Omikron variant. Those affected must therefore remain in quarantine over the Christmas holidays.
