The popular compact class model will be modernized for the last time.
At the end of 2023, the Golf will once again experience its star hour, becoming the most requested model in the new car market in Germany with 7,503 registrations in November. Now in the eighth generation of its life cycle, it is still available with an internal combustion engine in petrol, diesel and hybrid versions. In 2024, Golf will celebrate its 50th anniversary and will be the last face lift.
The German media writes that the visual changes will be hardly noticeable, including only minimal changes in the design of the lights, grills and bumpers. Perhaps the illuminated brand logo will help someone, because such an option will be available in the Golf only after the upcoming modernization.
The driver is promised a new instrument cluster, the central multimedia screen will grow to 13 inches, the climate control control will get illuminated sliders, and the latest operating system will not allow “hanging” on what eighth was criticized so much since his arrival in 2019.
Also a contribution to the driver’s assistance systems, getting, among other things, a safety assistant that will warn you with a light and, if necessary, an acoustic signal, of road users approaching from behind if you try to open the door at that moment.
There is still no real clarity about the future of the Golf. One of the options provides that a model with such a name and, of course, an electric drive, could replace the rather unsuccessful ID.3 in the future.
Currently, the Golf is offered with gasoline, diesel and hybrid engines, 110-333 hp, in hatchback and station wagon bodies. Price in Germany – 29,275-57,985 euros.
