With a few hours remaining until the start of the 2023 Asian Cup of Nations, the tournament’s organizing committee in the Asian Football Confederation praised the “exceptional” preparation that has been made in order to provide the best platform for the participating players and teams to shine.
The Asian Nations Cup begins in Qatar tomorrow, Friday, with the Qatari team meeting its Lebanese counterpart in the first round of the first group stage of the competition, in which 24 teams participate.
The committee held a meeting today, Thursday, headed by Mariano Araneta Jr., where its members received a comprehensive update on the most important achievements and steps taken to prepare for the tournament, as well as on the readiness of all operational aspects in order to hold a distinguished tournament for all participating parties.
Junior said, “In terms of operational matters, it is clear that the continent of Asia is ready to celebrate the best edition ever in the history of the Asian Cup, and Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation, announced that Qatar 2023 will be a tournament with historical precedents, and this matter has been achieved.” Thanks to the high-level coordination and integration between the Asian Football Confederation and the Asian Cup Local Organizing Committee.”
Junior added in his statements, which were reported by the Asian Football Confederation website, “Whether through launching the tournament slogan – Come on Asia – as well as launching the e-Asia Cup, implementing the semi-automated offside system, the video assistant referees system, developing the celebrations before the start of each match, and using projects… Diversified digital and paperless policy, all of this confirms the commitment of the AFC and the Local Organizing Committee to ensure the provision of an unparalleled experience for all participants.”
He continued, “We have absolute faith that we will build on our proud legacy in previous editions, and just as importantly, we will strengthen the foundations for the countries that will host the Asian Cup in the future, in order to build on the model standards set by the Qatar Football Association and the Local Organizing Committee. and Qatari authorities.
