JAKARTA – Indonesian U-19 National Team struggling in AFF U-19 Cup 2022. The Indonesian U-19 national team still has the opportunity to qualify for the knockout phase from Group A.
Football observer, Supriyono Prima, said that the U-19 Indonesian National Team had to go all out in the remaining U-19 AFF Cup matches. Full points from the final two matches keep the Indonesian U-19 national team hope to qualify for the next stage.
“I think (the opportunity) is still open. The last two matches must be won, but with a record that Vietnam or Thailand beat each other,” said Supriyono Prima to MNC Portal Indonesia (MPI), Thursday (7/7/2022).
He said the Indonesian U-19 national team had to give the best results in the 2022 U-19 AFF Cup. The reason was that the Indonesian football public had missed achievements.
“Maintain the credibility of the name of the nation and state through football achievements,” he said.
Supriyono Prima said that the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup was also a means of preparation for the U-19 Indonesian National Team ahead of the 2023 U-20 World Cup. It should be noted that Indonesia is the host of the grand event.
“Take advantage of the momentum as the host of the AFF U-19 Cup as part of the process leading to the 2023 U-20 World Cup and making new history,” he said.
Now, the U-19 Indonesian National Team is in fourth position with a collection of five points. Garuda Nusantara is behind Thailand (first position, seven points), Vietnam (second position, seven points), and Myanmar (third position, six points). Meanwhile, the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam are at the bottom of the standings without a single point.
Furthermore, Garuda Nusantara will face the Philippines on the fourth matchday of Group A at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi, West Java, Friday 8 July 2022, at 20.00 WIB. Victory is of course the main target of Shin Tae-yong’s troops.
