Innovation and Sales & Marketing Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor Yusak Billy frankly said that what they were doing in 2020 was maintaining market share, continuously monitoring market movements, and creating market-appropriate programs. One of them is by encouraging online marketing and sales.
“We want consumers to be served and facilitated from buying a car to servicing it,” said Billy.
After this total defense strategy has been successfully implemented to get through 2020, then 2021 is the time to attack. So, what weapons have they prepared for consumers?
1. All New Honda CR-V
Indonesia should have released the All New Honda CR-V earlier than the Philippines, which was done last week. But the July 2020 release schedule had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Refreshments at the All New Honda CR-V are not only exterior and interior, but also technology such as the Honda Sensing, which previously only existed in the Honda Accord. It is possible that the All New Honda CR-V will be released in January 2021 in Indonesia.
2. All New Honda City
–Even though the sedan market is relatively small, it is certain that the 5th generation All New Honda City will immediately lead the small sedan market after its release in Indonesia. The appearance of this new model is more sporty, bold and character. Moreover, there is a very luxurious RS variant.
3. All New Honda HR-V
–The second generation Honda HR-V has completely changed. The appearance is more bold, wider and longer. The design, which is increasingly manly, also fits perfectly with the tastes of Indonesian consumers. The presence of the All New Honda HR-V will clearly support Honda’s sales in the low SUV class.
4. Honda WR-V
–It has been a long time since news emerged that Honda will bring a model whose position is slightly above the Honda Brio, which is the backbone of Honda. However, the targets and characters were very different.
The WR-V, which has been marketed in India, is positioned to fight the Suzuki Ignis, with ground clearance tall but still compact body. The 1.5 liter engine has 115 hp, complete with roof rails and 16-inch alloy wheels. The price is estimated to start at IDR 200 million.
5. Honda ZR-V
–The design of the Honda ZR-V is still a digital result. However, Honda itself did develop a compact SUV with a 1,000 cc 3-cylinder engine to tackle the Suzuki Jimny, Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky. And the enthusiasm for small SUVs in Indonesia can be said to be very high. It can be seen from the very long Suzuki Jimny pivot.
It’s just that, indeed, the Honda WR-V and ZR-V are not sure to enter Indonesia. It could be that the two models will only be facelift existing Honda models. What is clear, Honda’s steps in 2021 will be very interesting.
