The potential of Granada’s candidacy to win the European Capital of Culture in 2031 have been the driving force behind the gala with which the city started its promotion this afternoon in Fitur, a great event held at the Casa de América in Madrid in which the capital has presented some of its main cultural, tourist and heritage assets, among others.
In a speech crowded by more than 350 attendees and at a gala hosted by television presenter Jota Abril, the mayor, Luis Salvador, has defended in his speech the reasons that mark this candidacy: “Granada is culture, the cradle of writers and artists. The event started with the presentation of a promotional video of the capital’s candidacy that, under the slogan I am culture, I am Granada and the hashtag # Granada2031, makes a brief review of the literary, artistic, scientific, cinematographic, gastronomic and musical offer of the city. An audiovisual work full of aerial images of Albaicín, Realejo, Alhambra and historical neighborhoods in which the city presents the heritage and traditional roots that mark its identity, as well as the living and emerging cultural present that Granada represents.
The delegation from Granada through its Councilor for Tourism, Manuel Olivares, has also presented the new project to the attending public Lookouts, which will allow the traveler to enjoy a route through those windows or spaces dotted throughout the city, from which to contemplate the beauty of its streets, squares and sunsets.
The large calendar of festivals that the city offers, along with the two new additions that will debut this 2020, have been another of the highlights of the gala. Thus, those attending the event have been able to enter the Granada IberSeries Festival, to be held from May 25 to 30 and which will feature the main TV channels and platforms in Spain, Latin America and North America and will bring together professionals and viewers of this industry in our city in a large program of activities, premieres, galas and conferences .
