The organizers of the annual Boston Calling festival announced Tuesday they would cancel this year’s event due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.”After several weeks of consultation with local and state authorities, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Boston Calling,” the organizers said in a statement shared on its website and social media. “We are heartbroken; however, the health and safety of our audience, artists, partners, vendors, first responders, and staff are of the utmost importance to us, and we felt that this was the only acceptable way forward,” they said. The festival was set to be held at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Cambridge on Memorial Day weekend, from Friday, May 22 through Sunday, May 24. The organizers said they would be reaching out to all ticket holders in the coming weeks with a detailed outline of options available. They said the options would include obtaining a full refund or rolling tickets to next year’s event.The annual music festival organizers any said they hoped to release details about the 2021 music festival in the near future. Their website said next year’s festival is tentatively set for Friday, May 28 through Sunday, May 30.”To our valued partners, vendors, restaurants, staff and artists, we wish you all the very best during these trying times, and we look forward to collaborating with you all again soon,” the organizers said.
