Memorabilia from the fatally injured NBA superstar Kobe Bryant raised more than $ 200,000 at an auction in Los Angeles.

Unexpectedly the most money was made by the concrete handprints of the American who died in a helicopter crash in January with a maximum bid of $ 75,000 (around € 68,440).

For a set of jersey and pants worn in the 2000 final series, the highest bid on Thursday was $ 43,750 (around € 40,000). The pair of shoes from that lot brought in another $ 25,600.

According to the auction house, memorabilia of the five-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers are comparatively rare. The annual auction, which because of the corona virus only accepted bids in writing, online and by telephone this year and was broadcast on the Internet, brought numerous jerseys, medals and other memorabilia from the world of sport under the hammer.
