20 Jewish communities receive money for security measures

Hannover (dpa/lni) –

A total of 20 Jewish communities and institutions in Lower Saxony receive money from the state for security measures in their buildings. It is about a total of five million euros, as announced by the Ministry of Education in Hanover on Monday. Minister of Education Grant Hendrik Tonne (SPD) said: “Unfortunately, 77 years after the end of the Second World War and the inhuman genocide of millions of Jewish fellow citizens, we are still experiencing anti-Semitic thought patterns that eventually turn into acts of violence.” It is therefore important that the country guarantees the protection of those who comply with their fundamental right to freedom of religion.
