At the start of the season in the 2nd league, the newly relegated Schalke 04 lost 3-1 at home to the previous relegated HSV. Schalke even took the lead in the 7th minute through Simon Terodde and were able to cheer again a good 20 minutes later when Hamburg’s Robert Glatzel missed a penalty. The unlucky one managed to equalize in the 55th minute, Moritz Heyer added one more in the 86th minute and turned the game around.
Now Schalke collapsed – Hamburg’s Bakery Jatta was able to increase the 3-1 final score in the 90th minute. Schalke starts the second division season with an unpleasant psychological mortgage – and is on the first day of relegation rank 18.
