1,733 new corona infections and no deaths in Austria


No further deaths related to Covid-19 and 1,733 new infections within 24 hours were reported in Austria on Monday. The new cases were well below the average of 2,151 over the past seven days. Corona deaths were registered 7.4 per day on a seven-day average. According to the Ministry of the Interior and Health, a total of 52 people with or from a corona infection have died in the past seven days.

According to this data, the pandemic has claimed 18,651 lives in Austria since it broke out. 19,921 Covid victims were recently listed on the AGES dashboard – for a few weeks now, the federal states have been reporting successive fatalities as part of a data comparison. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 207.7 people per 100,000 inhabitants have died from or with Covid-19.

As of Monday there were 35,937 active cases in Austria, 235 fewer than the day before. The seven-day incidence was 167.7 cases per 100,000 population. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the confirmed corona infections have totaled 4,250,240, 4,195,652 people have recovered since then, and 1,968 are considered healthy again within the past 24 hours.

Vienna was identified as the federal state with the highest seven-day incidence with 257.8, followed by Lower Austria, Salzburg and Vorarlberg (198.9, 166 and 141.4 respectively). It was followed by Burgenland (138.8), Upper Austria (130), Tyrol (119.5), Styria (107.3) and Carinthia (100.6).

There were 483 people infected with Covid in the hospital on Monday, seven fewer than on Sunday. 38 people were cared for in intensive care units. That number has dropped by nine since yesterday and has dropped by 14 patients in a week. In 24 hours, 45,371 corona tests were reported, including 40,957 PCR tests with a positive rate of 4.2 percent. All in all, there are now 241,576,173 tests performed.

On Sunday, 243 vaccinations were carried out across Austria, including exactly two first bites, in the past week there were 620 first vaccinations. According to the data from the e-vaccination card, a total of 6,828,279 people received at least one vaccination. 5,881,061 or 65.5 percent of the people in Austria have a valid vaccination. The protection rate is highest in Burgenland at 72.2 percent. In Lower Austria 68.1 percent have a valid vaccination protection, in Styria 66.5 percent. After Vienna (64.2), Tyrol (63.3), Carinthia (62.4), Vorarlberg (62) and Salzburg (61.5), Upper Austria brings up the rear with 61.2 percent.
