Dozens of people have survived cardiac arrest in a stampede that formed in Seoul’s popular nightlife area during Halloween celebrations. 59 people died, 150 were injured. This is reported BBC referring to South Korean officials.

Video of the scene shows body bags on the streets, ambulance workers performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and rescuers trying to get out people trapped underneath others.
South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has called an emergency meeting.
South Korean news agency Yonhap, citing firefighters, reported that about 50 people have survived cardiac arrest. In total, about 100,000 people were in the area at one time. In addition to Halloween, they also celebrated the first mask-free outdoor event since the COVID-19 pandemic.
UPDATED AT 9.15pm. Reuters citing representatives of the fire brigade, the death toll has increased to 120 people.
