The Ministry of Health announced that a new sub-variant of Omicron was detected in Bulgaria. Subvariant VA.5 of Omicron was detected in Sofia-city and Kyustendil regions.

The Ministry of Health and the Expert Council on Immunoprophylaxis Supervision have already recommended the use of a second booster mRNA vaccine against COVID-19 in persons over 18 years of age and have called several times for vaccination.
