He lost his brother Samuel shortly after birth to the Spanish flu, which claimed tens of millions of victims around the world. They were born together on December 5, 1919, according to his grandson Warren Zysman. Samuel died a few weeks later.
According to Zysman, Kahn has often said to be afraid that another pandemic would break out in his life. “He expressed that concern quite frequently,” Zysman told CNN. “When I spoke to him about this corona pandemic, he said,” I told you that history repeats itself. 100 years is now not that long. ”
Kahn developed corona symptoms just before his death on April 17. “He knew he might have corona,” said Zysman. “He’d been talking about his brother a lot these days.”
In his lifetime, Philip Kahn took part in the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II and carried out aerial reconnaissance after the nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
