1. Russia is starting to attack some new territories

Ukrainian officials reported Russian troops had begun targeting several areas. One of them is Odessa in the South of the country. Moscow is said to have attacked private buildings in coastal villages in the early hours of this morning

Odessa itself is a large port city on the Black Sea side. The port in the city is also very important for the delivery of food from Ukraine to other countries

A Russian shooting in the city of Mykolaiv was also reported this morning. The head of the city council, Olexander Senkevich, said “A large-scale missile attack was launched in southern Ukraine from the direction of the Black Sea, including by flight.”

Apart from Odessa and Mykolaiv, a residential area in Ukraine’s second largest city, Kharkiv, was also reportedly hit by the attack this morning. The mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov, said the attack by Russian troops was carried out in the city center.

2. Russia mobilizes weapons to Kherson

The Ukrainian military claims Russia is moving a convoy of military equipment to Kherson. The military said a convoy of military equipment was seen moving through Melitopol, towards the city.

Kherson itself is a city that is currently occupied by Russia. In fact, the Kremlin plans to establish a government in the city.

3. Ukraine fights back against Russia

A huge fire broke out at an oil depot in the Budyonnovsky district of the Russian-backed Donetsk People’s Republic. Local media said no casualties or injuries had been reported so far.

Even so, the occupying forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic released photos showing the train carriages were badly burned in the incident.

Not only in Donetsk, Ukrainian forces have also bombed a customs checkpoint in the Sevsky district in Russia’s Bryansk region using explosives dropped from a quadcopter drone according to the governor of the region.

4. Gazprom cuts gas to Europe

Russia’s state-controlled energy company, Gazprom, has announced a drastic reduction in gas shipments via its main pipeline to Europe from Wednesday.

The company said it suspended operation of one of the last two operating turbines due to “engine technical conditions”. This then forced a cut in daily gas shipments via the Nord Stream pipeline to 33m cubic meters per day or the equivalent of 20% of pipeline capacity.

This also invites a European reaction. The reason is, some of the Blue Continent countries oppose Russia’s actions in Ukraine.

German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said the excuse was a “joke” while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian President Vladimir Putin was launching a “gas war” against a region that depends 45% of its gas needs from Moscow.

5. Britain denies reports of Russian attack in Odesa

The UK Ministry of Defense has issued its intelligence briefing on the situation at the time of the Russian attack on Odessa. During the briefing, Queen Elizabeth’s country denied Russian reports of the attack.

“The Russian Ministry of Defense claims to have hit a Ukrainian warship and a stockpile of anti-missile systems. However, there is no indication that the target was in the location that was hit by the missile,” the report said.

Russia initially told Turkey it was not responsible for the attack. Yesterday the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied this, and said that the attack took place on military infrastructure.

6. Ukraine is ready to export food

Ukraine said it hoped to start exporting grain from one of its ports this week.

“Details of the procedure will soon be published by the joint coordination center in collaboration with the shipping industry,” said deputy UN spokesman Farhan Haq.

Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said that Turkey expects Kyiv and Moscow to keep their responsibilities under the recently signed grain export deal.

7. Russia detains Ukrainian citizens

Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov has claimed that Russian troops detained more than 5,000 people in a queue at a checkpoint in Vasylivka in Zaporizhzhia as they tried to flee the region.

The Zaporizhzhia region itself is still occupied by Russia. Ukraine claims Moscow has issued 8,000 Russian passports in the area.

In addition, they also said that a referendum in the region to become part of the Russian Federation will most likely be held in September.

8. Attorney General of Ukraine reveals data on child victims

The Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office has released new casualty figures for children affected by the Russian attack in Ukraine. It said 358 children had been killed and at least 690 injured since the Russian offensive began on February 24.

9. Russia’s new target after Ukraine

Russia is reportedly targeting Moldova as its latest post-Ukraine target. This is evidenced by the Moscow attack on Odessa which is quite close to the country.

Seeing this situation, the Moldovan government in Chisinau began to worry. But he believes this is still just a normal scenario.

“The possibility that Moldova could become the next territory to be invaded by the Russian Federation is still a hypothetical scenario,” Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița told CNN.

“We are worried, of course. If military action moves further into southwestern Ukraine and towards Odesa, then of course, we are very worried.”

10. Russia reveals its targets in Ukraine

Russia’s top diplomat says Moscow’s overarching goal of carrying out a military offensive in Ukraine is to overthrow the government of President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Speaking to envoys at an Arab League summit in Cairo on Sunday, Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, said Moscow was determined to help Ukraine “free itself from the regime’s totally unacceptable burden”.
