Buhrow, who has been a member of the committee since 2010, succeeds the Cologne moderator and journalist Ulrich Meyer (64), who is retiring.

Buhrow had initially made a career for ARD as a correspondent and head of the Washington Studios and was elected WDR director in 2013. Since January of this year he has also been chairman of the ARD.

The board of trustees consists of up to 50 public figures who are supposed to help achieve the foundation’s goals. The members of the Board of Trustees are appointed for a period of three years and work on an honorary basis.

In the election the lawyer Gordian Hasselblatt (59) was also confirmed as deputy chairman of the foundation’s board of trustees. Martin Seiler (56), board member of the Deutsche Bahn, was newly admitted to the committee. (kos)
