Quoting NypostWednesday (1/7/2020) The man aged 62 years, he experienced a painful condition known as priapismus while in the intensive care unit at Le Chesnay hospital, according to a case report in The American Journal of Emergency Medicine.
Initially the doctors applied an ice pack to the vital area, but after four hours the erection had not disappeared.
Using needles, they instead decided to drain blood from his penis and found that it was filled with blood clots, the report said.
Doctors say blood clots that are often found are common among coronavirus patients, but this case is the first time that corona virus triggers Priapism (caused by blood trapped in the penis).
“Clinical and laboratory presentations in our patients confirm there is a link between Priapism and corona infection,” the doctors wrote.
But more research is needed in the link between strange cases of blood clots and viruses, they said.
