An additional 236,000 people watched the broadcast of “Jedermann” on Bavarian television. The ORF festival documentary “Das Große Welttheater” saw half a million viewers on TV channels. The concert director and media officer of the Salzburg Festival, Florian Wiegand, was delighted with the great response. It is the largest recording project in the history of the festival. In this way, people around the world could celebrate the 100th anniversary despite Corona travel restrictions, Wiegand explained. The project will be realized in cooperation with Unitel, ORF, ARTE, 3sat and BR.
For the first time, the Salzburg Festival was also shown live in cinemas in Austria, Germany and Russia. The premieres of “Elektra” and “Jedermann” were broadcast in 94 cinemas on the opening day. “These festival broadcasts with over 4000 visitors even made it into the cinema charts,” said Wiegand.
The Salzburg Festival has planned a total of over 30 audiovisual productions for this festival summer. This year the festival will take place in a shortened form due to Corona from August 1st to 30th.
