A man in his forties committed a terrible crime by spraying flammable substances on his girlfriend’s body and setting him on fire in an underground parking lot of an apartment building in southern Chungcheong province.
Fortunately, the residents witnessed this and quickly put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, saving the victim’s life.
Police are looking for the man who ran away after seeing him as a “dating violence” crime.

A large fire truck kicks in and another is parked on the other side.
After a while, an ambulance carrying a patient rushes to the hospital.
It was around 9:30 am when news was received that a man set fire to a woman and fled from the underground parking lot of an apartment building in Dangjin, southern Chungcheong province.
[아파트 주민 : 차를 빨리 빼달라고 하니까, 불이 붙었으니까 차를 빼달라고 그래서 그때 와서 보니까 제가, 소방차가 와 있고, 경찰차가 벌써 와 있고….]
A citizen who witnessed the situation immediately brought a fire extinguisher, put out the fire on the woman’s body and reported it to the police.
The woman suffered burns to her upper body, including her back, and was taken to hospital.
Police believe A, a man in his forties who was having an affair with a woman, committed the crime.
He was alleged to have committed the crime when he entered the underground parking lot early with flammable materials and waited for the victim to appear.
The victim is said to have claimed that “A suspected a relationship and assaulted him.”
A knife was also found on the spot, but no stab wounds were found on the victim’s body.
After committing the crime, Mr. A left the scene and fled as he was.
It was investigated that the suspect fled in his car parked outside the apartment.
Police have sent the suspect’s vehicle number to the National Control Center to look for it and plan to confirm the exact reason for the crime by investigating nearby acquaintances.
