Three years ago, the first trial of the case of Yonghwa Girls’ High School in Seoul, which was the spark of the so-called’School Me Too’ movement, was made publicly on the issue of sexual violence in school.
The abused teacher in her 50s was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison and was imprisoned.

The case of’School Me Too’ at Yonghwa Girls’ High School in Seoul, where students put a memo pad on a window to publicize sexual violence in school.
A former teacher who was handed over to trial for forcibly harassing female students was sentenced to jail.
The court sentenced Mr. A in his 50s to 1 year and 6 months in prison and imprisoned him in court.
In addition, it was ordered for five years to complete 40 hours of sexual violence treatment programs and to restrict employment in institutions related to children and youth and welfare facilities for the disabled.
The judge explained the reason for the sentence, saying that Mr. A’s guilt was not good and he forgot his duty as an educator.
However, the graduates expressed regret, saying that the ruling was far less than the sentence for the prosecution.

However, just as’School Me Too’ spread from Yonghwa Girls’ High School to the whole country three years ago, there was also an expectation that it would be the starting point for completely disappearing sex crimes in schools.

Previously, the incident of sexual violence in Yonghwa Girls’ High School was known to the world in March 2018 through student confession.
At the time, dozens of students complained that they were victims.
In December of the same year, the prosecutors who started the investigation dismissed Mr. A without charge for lack of evidence.
Eventually, the prosecution indicted Mr. A without custody, and was arrested only three years after the case broke out.
