Corona 19 antibody treatment developed in Korea is effective against the existing virus and the UK mutant virus, but it has been confirmed that it has little effect on the South African mutant virus.
Accordingly, the quarantine authorities recommended that the use of domestic treatments be restricted to those with confirmed South African mutant virus.

On the 5th, Celltrion-developed domestic COVID-19 treatment, Rekironaju, was the third in the world to be approved for use by the authorities.
As a result of evaluating the efficacy of this antibody treatment, it showed excellent inhibitory ability against the existing 6 types of Corona 19 viruses.
It has also been found to be effective against mutant viruses in the UK, but has little effect on mutant viruses originating in South Africa.

Accordingly, the quarantine authorities have recommended restricting the use of domestic antibody treatments to confirmed cases of the South African mutant virus.
Celltrion said that the cocktail-type treatment, which mixes Rekirona with other candidate antibodies, has been shown to have the ability to inhibit mutations in South Africa, and that it will develop a customized treatment for mutations within six months.
The authorities plan to accelerate the development of domestic treatments through a joint public-private partnership.
