[사회]Concerns come true… Executive order to secure the first bed due to the surge in severely ill patients

As the COVID-19 situation continues to become more serious, the number of patients with severe and severe gastric disorders who need ventilation or cardiopulmonary device treatment is steadily increasing.

As the bed crisis became a reality, the government first issued an executive order to secure dedicated treatment beds for severely ill patients for senior hospitals.

As more than a thousand new confirmed cases have been pouring out for four consecutive days, the number of severely ill patients is also increasing rapidly.

The number of patients receiving ventilator or cardiopulmonary device treatment increased by 29 per day to 275.

Not only older people with underlying diseases, but also younger people often suffer from rapid deterioration.

Of the 275 people with stomach or severe illness, 39 people were under 50.

A new 20-year-old gastric/severe patient was also added, and this is the 7th time.

As the number of severely ill patients increases rapidly, there are cases of death while staying in nursing homes or homes due to lack of beds.

The government eventually pulled out a card titled’Administrative Order to Secure Beds’ for the first time since the coronavirus outbreak.

According to the current infectious disease prevention and management laws, the Commissioner of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention can mobilize facilities such as hospital beds at medical institutions during the outbreak.

Specifically, higher-level hospitals ordered to secure at least 1% of the number of beds approved by medical institutions, and national university hospitals ordered to secure at least 1% of the number of beds approved by intensive care patients.

It is known that about 40 general hospitals are included, but the government expects that it will be able to secure more than 300 dedicated severely ill beds.

The government has already informed local governments of what to secure and how to support them, and it is known that each medical institution is submitting a security plan.

However, even if it is a serious or severe bed that accounts for 1% of all beds, there are opinions that it is more than 20% of the total intensive care unit.
