It’s the biggest performance ever.
However, the battery sector, which is considered a new future business while receiving full support, failed to turn a profit.
SK Innovation achieved annual sales of 78.569 trillion won and operating profit of 3.9989 trillion won last year.
This is a disgrace that has increased by 66.6 % of sales and 129.6 % of operating profit compared to 2021 years.
On an annual basis, it achieved the highest performance ever, but it has fallen sharply since the fourth quarter of last year, and there is also an analysis that it could be an honor that only hurts.
In fact, the operating loss for the fourth quarter was 683.3 billion won.
This was due to inventory-related losses in the oil business as oil prices and exchange rates fell together.
This is explained by the effect of the reduced refining margin.
The problem is that SK Innovation’s new growth engine, the battery business, has failed to turn a profit.
The battery business recorded sales of 7,617.7 billion won and operating loss of 991.2 billion won.
The annual battery sector deficit alone is close to 1 trillion won.
Analysts say that SK Innovation’s battery division increased its deficit due to a decrease in sales and an increase in electricity costs in Europe.
However, SK Innovation expects profitability to improve in the second half of the year as top-line growth continues through the stabilization of yields at new plants, such as the Georgia 1 Plant in the US and Hungary 2 Plant, and the operation of the Yancheng 2 Plant in China.
