[문화]Last year, K-pop album exports approached 300 billion won…the highest ever

Last year, K-pop album exports reached a record high of 300 billion won.

According to the import and export trade statistics of the Korea Customs Service, last year’s album exports amounted to 233 million dollars, or 289.5 billion won in Korean money, an increase of 5.6% from the previous year.

Since 2020, as K-pop performances around the world have stopped due to COVID-19, it is analyzed that overseas fans have opened their wallets to purchase albums, and the K-pop album market has been booming.

Last year, the country that imported the most Korean albums was Japan, which bought about 106.5 billion won, followed by China and the United States.

In addition, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Thailand, Hong Kong, Germany, Indonesia, and France were listed in the top 10 countries for record exports.

Since Korea’s record exports exceeded $40 million for the first time in 2017, they have grown every year, surpassing $100 million and $200 million in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
