Asia’s largest auto racing event, Grand Prix, and a food festival were held in Macau.
The Corona 19 quarantine regulations are still in place, but the city, including the Korean business district, is full of energy with a large-scale festival that has been held for a long time.
Reporter Choi Joon-hyeok captured the scene.

Racing cars that make a powerful engine sound!
This year marks the 69th anniversary of the “Macau Grand Prix”.
Being a competition with a high degree of difficulty that uses the city streets as a circuit, the tension between the participants and the public increases.

Macau still maintains a “zero crown” policy, so this year the game was held with no foreign participants except from the China region.
All visitors must present a COVID-19 negative certificate received within 48 hours,
Participants followed strict quarantine rules, such as receiving PCR tests every day at the entrance inspection station during the competition.

A few days later, the streets of Macau, where the heat of the Grand Prix did not pass, this time filled with delicious food.
It’s a “food festival” where you can sample food from Macau’s best restaurants, from street food to century-old establishments to Michelin-starred restaurants.
Amidst all the food from all over the world, a booth featuring Korean food has been set up and is gaining huge popularity.
Hallyu fans kept visiting the Korean food booth selling representative foods such as tteokbokki, gimbap and japchae.

Korean restaurant officials, who are having a hard time with the long-standing zero-corona policy, regained their vitality during the festival.
[이현미 / 한식당 운영 : 한국 음식을 많은 분께 소개할 수도 있고 여기에 계시는 마카오 분들이 한국 음식을 많이 좋아하세요. 그러나 코로나 방역으로 축제에 참여하는 (사람들은) 매일 PCR 검사를 받아야 하는 게 많이 힘든 상황이죠.]
The Macau Grand Prix and Food Festival, which was difficult to find foreign tourists this year under the strict quarantine rules.
Next year I hope to return to the way it was before COVID-19 and regain its reputation as a tourist city visited by around 30 million tourists every year.
