Comedian trio Jungle Pocket’s Saito Shinji’s owned horse, Omata Se Shimashita (3-year-old filly, trained by Sasano Hiroshi at Kasamatsu), participated in the 7th race at Kasamatsu on the 23rd (Class C22, 1400m on dirt). With jockey Miyashita Hitomi on her back, Omata Se Shimashita took the lead from the start, just like her previous race, and stubbornly held on to win in the straight. This victory marked her first win in 8 races since January of this year.
Omata Se Shimashita is a descendant of father Jungle Pocket, mother Halloween, and her mother’s father El Condor Pasa. The name of the horse means “We have kept many people waiting” in Japanese.
She made her debut in Hokkaido horse racing in June 2022. In Hokkaido, she had 8 races with a best finish of 3rd place before transferring to Kanazawa horse racing in November of the same year. Due to heavy snowfall, there were race cancellations, and she only had one race before transferring to Kasamatsu. On January 26th of this year, in her 10th race, she achieved her first victory.
After that, she developed a deep inflammation in the bone and ligament attachment area after the race on February 23rd and was put out to pasture. Fortunately, it was a mild case, and she returned to racing on May 24th and continued to participate in races. Her overall record is 18 races with 2 wins.
(Note: Deep inflammation occurs in the area where the bone and ligament attach.)
What is the significance behind the name “Omata Se Shimashita” and how does it reflect her journey in horse racing
Comedian trio Jungle Pocket’s very own horse, Omata Se Shimashita, recently achieved a remarkable victory at the Kasamatsu racecourse. Trained by Sasano Hiroshi, this talented 3-year-old filly competed in the 7th race on the 23rd, covering a distance of 1400m on dirt in the Class C22 category. Guided by jockey Miyashita Hitomi, Omata Se Shimashita grabbed the lead right from the start, replicating her previous race strategy. With unwavering determination, she maintained her position to secure a well-deserved win. This triumph marked her first victory out of eight races since the beginning of the year.
Omata Se Shimashita comes from a lineage that includes the renowned father Jungle Pocket, mother Halloween, and her mother’s father El Condor Pasa. In Japanese, her name translates to “We have kept many people waiting,” which seems fitting considering the anticipation surrounding her success.
This impressive filly made her debut in Hokkaido horse racing in June 2022. During her time in Hokkaido, she participated in eight races, with her best result being a third-place finish. However, due to race cancellations caused by heavy snowfall, her opportunities were limited before she transferred to Kanazawa horse racing in November of the same year. It was in her 10th race, held on January 26th, that Omata Se Shimashita clinched her first victory.
Unfortunately, shortly after that race on February 23rd, she experienced a concerning issue. Omata Se Shimashita developed a deep inflammation in the area where her bones and ligaments connect. As a result, she had to take a break from racing and spend some time in the pasture to recover. Thankfully, her case was mild, and she made a successful return to the track on May 24th, continuing to demonstrate her competitive spirit. So far, she has participated in a total of 18 races, securing two wins in her racing career.
It’s an inspiring journey for Omata Se Shimashita, proving that perseverance and resilience can lead to extraordinary triumphs, even in the world of horse racing.
