Unpredictable as a cat, Kudus can ‘become a top international player’

Two years ago, Kudus ended up in Denmark two years ago through the British non-profit organization, which offers African children the opportunity to develop themselves as a football player and as a person at a location some 100 kilometers outside Accra. That was no coincidence, the founder of the Right to Dream Academy also owns FC Nordsjaelland, the club for which Kudus was going to play.

“The move to Denmark was easier for him and the other Right to Dream boys than for other African players,” says Pedersen. “Because they have been training with the Nordsjaelland youth and playing international matches from the age of fifteen. The two academies have the same philosophy and working method. Everything is coordinated.”

In Pedersen Kudus met the ideal trainer, at the ideal club for a young player like him. At FC Nordsjaelland, much if not everything is devoted to developing young talent. Of the 28 current selection players, only 4 are over 23 years old. And 80 percent come from one of the two youth schools.

“Sometimes it is also good to have experienced players around you, who can lead you on the field. But of course it helps a young player that this is a young environment, with a lot of former teammates from the two youth academies,” said Pedersen. “They immediately feel safe here, there is no stress, no pressure.”
