“The drones were quickly developed by the Air Force in response precisely to the Ukrainian request. They provide similar capabilities to the Switchblade series of unmanned systems, but there are differences,” Kirby was quoted by CNN.

Kirby did not elaborate on the difference in capabilities between the Switchblade and Phoenix Ghost systems.

The Pentagon spokesman also said that the Phoenix Ghost requires minimal training for experienced UAV operators, and that the US Department of Defense is “working through” these requirements with the Ukrainian military.
