The Saeima will evaluate the freezing of cadastral values ​​/ Article / LSM.lv

The Saeima has adopted two draft laws for evaluation, which envisage postponing the recalculation of cadastral values.

Ministry of Justice (TM) developed calculation methodologies the project would increase the cadastral value of many properties several times in 2022. Opposition MPs are therefore urging a freeze on current values ​​until 2023.

In its turn, the draft law submitted to the Saeima by the New Conservative Party (JKP) would postpone the recalculation of values ​​for an even longer period of time – by 2026.

The issue of cadastral values ​​has led to disagreements between the ruling parties, which are unable to agree on a way to tax real estate in the future, as an increase in cadastral values ​​would currently place a greater tax burden on the population.

CONTEXT:

The currently valid cadastral values ​​are calculated using real estate transactions for 2012 and 2013. In turn, the new designed cadastral values ​​have been calculated in accordance with the situation on the market as of July 1, 2019.

In 2017, the Saeima supported the amendments to the law, which provided for until 2020. to freeze the cadastral values ​​of real estate for. Thus, the increase in real estate tax in the coming years has been prevented, but at the beginning of 2022 for most properties in Latvia increase cadastral value. The fastest growing value would be for agricultural land and apartments in new projects in Riga. This would mean that the real estate tax (RET) could also increase several times.
