In May, speed cameras registered 137.9 thousand violations, which means a decrease by about 2.4 thousand compared to the same period last year – according to data provided by Monika Niżniak, spokeswoman for the Chief Road Transport Inspectorate. The most speeding was recorded by a speed camera on the national road number 10 in Solec Kujawski.

Monika Niżniak informed that the speed camera system of the Automatic Traffic Supervision Center (CANARD) in May this year. registered 137.9 thousand. violations. – In the same period in 2020, 140.3 thousand devices registered these violations – said a spokeswoman for the General Inspectorate of Road Transport. This means a decrease by approx. 2.4 thousand. offenses.

Niżniak indicated that 135.2 thous. violations in May 2021 related to speeding, while 2.7 thousand. concerned failure to comply with traffic lights.

“Let’s adhere to the speed limits”

According to GITD data, the most speeding was recorded by a speed camera set up on the national road number 10 in Solec Kujawski – about 800 violations. On the other hand, the most red light runs were registered by the speed camera at al. Krakowska in Mroków (Mazowieckie) – about 700 violations. In turn, on the A1 motorway, towards Kamieńsk, only in May, a segmental speed measurement recorded 20 thousand. violations.

– The drivers exceeded the speed by an average of 25 kilometers per hour, but there were also infamous record holders. On May 3, a speed camera on the A1 motorway towards Tuszyn was registered by Mitsubishi, whose driver exceeded the speed by 64 kilometers per hour in an undeveloped area, driving 134 kilometers per hour with a speed limit of 70 kilometers per hour – Monika Niżniak reported. She added that the driver was issued a fine in the amount of PLN 500 and he also received 10 penalty points.

She also called on drivers to be reasonable and to anticipate the consequences of their decisions. – Let us obey the speed limits, slow down, adjust the speed to the road conditions, and respect other road users – said a spokeswoman for GITD.
