Do you remember the pop stars Aly & AJ? The former Disney stars are still making music together and will perform on the BMI stage at ACL 2022!
The sibling duo consists of Alyson and Amanda Joy Michalka. Both sisters are both actresses and singers. You may remember them from countless Disney Channel shows and movies. They even did call a Disney Channel movie together cowbells. Recently, AJ even claimed that Sister Aly was offered this Hanna Montana Roll before Miley Cyrus.
This won’t be Aly’s first visit to Austin. In 2009 she came to shoot at the ATX Band-Slam. The film also stars Scott Porter (Friday night lights), Vanessa Hudgens (Musical high school), bobby bone and surprisingly David Bowie! You can find everything Band-Slam filming locations and more here.
The pair have been performing together for over a decade, but this is their first time playing at ACL, if you visit the first weekend of the festival. They will be present on the BMI stage on Saturday 8 October. BMI brings musically diverse training in ACL year after year and this year is no different.
Over the past decade, the ACL’s BMI stage has had some memorable performances by Miranda Lambert, Alessia Cara, Luke Comb, City and Color, Gary Clark, Jr., Shakey Graves, Maren Morris, and others. This year the genres include Psych Rock, Indie Folk, Post-Punk, R&B, Indie Rock and Indie Pop. Even if you don’t recognize the names in the playlist, we always recommend that you check them. Part of what we love about ACL is discovering new music and BMI is the place for it!
