Air pollution levels in the city of Barcelona they are reaching their historical minimum values at this time. The drastic reduction in activities –especially transportation– due to citizen confinement, and a few rainy days that have contributed to cleaning the atmosphere, have placed the concentrations of nitrogen dioxide (main pollutant, caused by vehicle engines) in its lowest levels since measurements are made.
Nitrogen dioxide pollution levels (NO2) at Eixample they have dropped between 80% and 81% with respect to their daily normal values on March 22 and March 24, as well as several days in April (1, 13 and last Wednesday, day 22) .
On Wednesday, that cut was 81% compared to a typical day for this same date of the year.

It must be taken into account that the limit values included in the community regulations are 40 micr / m3annual average. The systematic breach of this requirement (in Madrid and Barcelona) made the Europe Commission a few months ago, the infringement file against Spain was raised to Luxembourg European Court of Justice, which could entail a sanction against Spain.

Until now, the minimum value reached in Barcelona (Eixample) was given on March 23 (9 micr / m3).
Similar circumstances have arisen in Sant Andreu de la Barca or Granollers.
In Granollers the decrease in NO2 has been up to 89% with respect to the average
In Sant Andreu a minimum of 11 micr / m was reached3 on April 5 (when on a typical day 27 micr / m is reached on these dates3).
The atmosphere has been even cleaner in Granollers, where values of 4 and 5 micr / m were reached3, on March 23 and 24, as well as on April 1 and 2.
In these last two days, the decrease in pollution was 86% and 89% compared to a typical day.

In Reus, the last week there have been decreases in pollution of up to more than 60%.
